    Mississippi/Louisiana

We arrived at Davis Bayou campground in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, by late afternoon. We paid $22 for a full hook up site with a picnic table and campfire. The campsite is basic, with a shower and toilet block on site. It is located in the woods, in a peaceful setting with easy access to hiking and bike trails.

    Alabama- Alligator Alley

We woke up early (never a surprise when you have three kids), with no plans for the day. Whilst I made breakfast and gave the RV a quick tidy, Johnny and the girls had another attempt at catching a fish (again with no luck). We had a walk around the campsite before deciding that we were going to head to Alligator Alley!

    Alabama- Orange beach

Our time in Florida was over, and even though I could’ve happily spent another week or two exploring, I was excited to be moving onto the next state on our list… Alabama!

Florida- Devil’s den & Carrabelle beach

We woke up at 6am to a slightly different view from our RV. Dark clouds, flashes of lightening and rain pouring. It was time to say goodbye to our first campsite. I could’ve happily stayed here for another week, or like one couple we met, pick a spot and live there for four months! Our next stop was Alabama, but seeing as it was our first long drive in the RV, I decided to add in a stay at Carrabelle beach, Florida.

    Florida- Orlando (Discovery cove)

We woke up at around 5am. Wide awake and ready to start our day! Whilst the girls sat watching a film on their DVD player, we sat outside with a cup of tea (we managed to get our hands on some PG tips at Walmart, how exciting!) and watched the sun rise. It was one of the most incredible sunrises I’ve ever seen and we were in the perfect spot!

    Florida- Orlando (Disney Springs)

I’m usually an early riser on holiday. I like to get up, watch the sunrise and be ready to start the day. However, 4am is not my ideal wake up time, even when I am on holiday. The time difference meant that the girls started stirring around 3am, and after a bit of bed swapping and trying to convince them to shit their eyes ‘for just five more minutes’ we gave up!

    Florida- Orlando

After dreaming of it for years and planning for months, it was finally time to head off on our US road trip! We decided to stay the night at Gatwick Travel lodge to save having to get up early for a two-hour drive to the airport. You can get a family room for just £59 for a night! The hotel room was immaculate and we were impressed with the hotel facilities. In the morning we head down for breakfast.

USA road trip- Planning our four week adventure!

Everyone has a dream holiday. One they’ve always fantasised about going on. Whether it’s a week in the Maldives, a Christmas weekend spent in New York or a family trip to Disneyland. In a recent survey over 75% of people asked admitted that they didn’t think they could ever make that dream a reality! There are so many beautiful countries, but the USA has always been at the top of my list. More specifically a USA road trip. My dad’s side of the family are from America, and as a child my dad would say ‘one day we will go’, but like for so many, that day didn’t come. Until…
